Spring Into Service!

For our next ward humanitarian service project on April 17th, we will be assembling hygiene kits for the Assistance League of Southern Utah. This group works to provide new school clothing and hygiene kits for disadvantaged children, as referred by school counselors and teachers.

Before assembling the kits, however, we need to gather some items. Most of these items can be found at the dollar store. If you would like to participate, please choose an egg from the basket in the relief society room and discover what assignment you can bring to our sunday meetings anytime in the next 3 weeks so that we will have all items accounted for prior to assembling atleast 50 kits on our service night, the night of April 17th.

We will have several other service projects going that night as well. We'd like to help our own ward nursery with some educational toys and will neeed to puchase some supplies to donate. Please ask me for details.  Please be a "Good Egg" and bring your assigned items to church by Easter Sunday! Thank you so much for your help!  ~Patty Foote

Book Group

The book this month is Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever, by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard.  Book Group will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 7:00pm at Mary Ann Young's home (1634 S. 3000 E.).  This is a great read, so please come join us for a fabulous discussion and lots of fun!  Even if you don't get a chance to read the book, we'd love to see you there!

A riveting historical narrative of the heart-stopping events surrounding the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and the first work of history from mega-bestselling author Bill O'Reilly
The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history—how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation, with the former Confederates allowed to reintegrate into American society. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices, perhaps reaching into the highest ranks of the U.S. government, are not appeased.
In the midst of the patriotic celebrations in Washington D.C., John Wilkes Booth—charismatic ladies' man and impenitent racist—murders Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre. A furious manhunt ensues and Booth immediately becomes the country's most wanted fugitive. Lafayette C. Baker, a smart but shifty New York detective and former Union spy, unravels the string of clues leading to Booth, while federal forces track his accomplices. The thrilling chase ends in a fiery shootout and a series of court-ordered executions—including that of the first woman ever executed by the U.S. government, Mary Surratt. Featuring some of history's most remarkable figures, vivid detail, and page-turning action, Killing Lincoln is history that reads like a thriller.

**(When you go through the guard gate, go halfway up the hill and take your first left, go to the end of the street and turn left again, then take one more "first left" turn onto Agate.  Go to the end of the culdesac and they are on the right with lots of lights on the front of the house.)
